Pink Clouds

Coming home from Net, Set, Go with my budding netballers yesterday it was hard to keep my eyes on the road. Look at these splendidly coloured clouds. So beautiful.

Now I guess this is where having Photoshop would be useful - I could edit out that powerline. Can you do things like that using Photoshop?

Now, why are my photos all this big regardless of how I resize them?

I obviously haven't had time to have another Typepad fiddle and investigate Typepad Help (usually quite good).

I've been fiddling around designing and drawing little dresses, skirts and tops. If I make a pettern for a basic A-line dress, a basic skirt and a couple of basic top styles then they can form the foundation to which various sleeve, collar/neckline, fastening and pocket styles can be added. The patterns can be cut apart to have contrast insertions and the like. I have an end roll of newsprint, the measurements for sizes 3 months to 4-5 years (beyond that young lasses get too picky), a how-to book of patternmaking, a long ruler, set square and french curve.

Ready, set, go! Cough...

Print Tray

A very recent aquisition. Not from the op-shop, though, from a vintage shop therefore expensive. This is what happens when you're wandering around in the doldrums and see something you've been lusting after for a long time. When I should have been at home vacuuming and mopping the floors, or, at the very least, making goods for the fantasy Etsy shop. When that money should have been used for Linsey's German tutoring. Sigh...

And because I haven't been making anything I will treat you to some scanned photos of my brother and I as little tackers.

Oldcar

As you can see, I wasn't a very attractive child. I reckon I look like a troll in this one.

My sister would have been a small baby I think.

Going for a "spin" in the old Austin Seven that my Dad was always going to do up. When my parents left this place in Katherine (NT) the garden had many sizeable trees and shrubs. The tamarind in the corner of the front yard which was excellent for climbing and we would suck on the sour fruit once the pods were removed. I could get onto the roof via a frangipani at the side, but got into trouble for it. I liked to lie on the roof and watch distant storms in the wet season.

I haven't returned to tackle the banner. What is there is a template from Typepad. What I want to put there is this:

or this:

Maybe I would alternate them.

However, I'm not in the right frame of mind to subject myself to more frustration!

Typepad's new format means my posts don't go words-photos-words-photos etc. they're like a dog's breakfast, and I don't like the look of it. I think I need more than half an hour to fiddle around with it though!

Banner

Oh, the frustration. I am trying to make a custom banner for my blog. Correction. I have made one, I just can't upload/insert the damn thing. Man, it's doing my head in I tell you!

I've put it all aside for now, to deal with next week...mutter,swear, mutter, swear.

The Battle of the Banner has meant no crafting or other interesting pursuits. Have a look at my bathroom medicine cabinet instead. Finally installed in the bathroom! Came from a garage sale years ago, and fixed up.

I read/heard somewhere that greyhounds are cuddly pets. They don't look as if they would be but here is some evidence.

Clare having a snooze with Suska. That's cuddly.

With the cold weather upon us out comes the winter kitchen window covering. Put on at sundown to keep the cold out and the warmth in.

In other news: I've been having a go at patternmaking. I have a (long term) plan to open an online shop, probably Etsy. Selling little kid's clothes, toys, felt purses, cards and bags. Or maybe just the clothes and toys. Either way I need to make patterns from my sketches. Nothing like a new challenge - but it's nowhere near as frustrating as that banner thing! Of course, it's a slow process...meaning: don't expect grand shop openings anytime soon.

Those of you with Etsy shops, I'd appreciate any ideas/feedback.

I'm off tomorrow afternoon for an overnight stay at Lakes Entrance - tea out Saturday night and a sleep-in on Sunday...ah. This little interlude has been in the pipeline for a good eighteen months! My two buddies and I have found it hard to score a weekend when all three of us don't have other commitments!

Fish o' The Decade

Definitely a once-a-decade phenomenon. My husband catching an eating size fish, that is (not through lack of effort, though).

A 1kg trout, what a beauty.

It's been a scattered week. Well, more so than usual.

I got my large, luxurious sheepskin off lay-by. I haven't sat on it yet, but doesn't it look sooo comfortable.

A random room shot from where I was sitting on the couch to photograph the "sheepy".

The room through the doorway is Linsey's bedroom. It's really interesting to go and look at the ever-changing pictures, photos and artworks on her walls.

I was tagged for the "Seven Weird Things" meme by Janet. I should be able to come up with loads of weird things to tell since I've been considered weird for most of my life! The label did lessen somewhat upon finishing high school. Then I pretty much embraced the tag.

I'll come up with the seven in due course.

There's A New One!

A new op-shop in town. At the Uniting Church. There's now a total of eight in town, and more in nearby towns. Of course I had  to visit and check out the merchandise.

A worthwhile foray.

Plenty of goodies, including the suitcase.

Couldn't resist this old block set.

Picture heavy. I'm having a bit of a word drought at the moment.
