From the Book of Creative Crafts 1978.
I find these extraordinary. Someone made them, for a start, and then they were featured in a craft book. I want some to put in the garden, down near the chook run. True love.
Ally has these beauties on her bookshelf.
We had a sailing ship once but it got broken.
Secret kitsch lover.
Broke the eggs for an omelette tonight and this happened.
I called the two youngsters in to look and Clare says, "I'm going to take a photo. You can put it on your blog if you want". So I did.
I remember having one of these shell creatures when I was a kid!
I love the smiley egg, makes everything feel happy I reckon.

Have you seen that house in Ballarat that has the facade absolutely covered in shells? Not a skerrick of bare wall to be seen. I hope it's still there. It was a regular drive-by treat for us as kids on our monthly visits to the Ballarat cousins.

I have that shell poultry photo in one of my old craft books (maybe not the same book though, they seemed to share out some special photos amongst different books) and I love it dearly. Shell creatures are so wonderful and sadly the art has not been widely taken into the 21st century!!
